Joining the Society


We rehearse on Monday evenings 7.30 pm to 9.15 pm in Glenorchy Church, Salterton Road, Exmouth. (See map of location)

The singing year begins early in September and ends after our concert in April / May, with breaks for half terms and Easter and over the Christmas period.

You may be relieved to hear that we do not require you to undertake a formal audition for the choir!  We would encourage you to attend a few rehearsals to see if the works being sung, and the standard of the singing, suit you before making definite decision to join.

If you decide you would like to join the Society you will then be asked to do a brief voice test with Brian Northcott, the Musical Director.  This is a minimal check that you can hold a note, sing a scale, sing a prepared song (e.g. a carol).  Brian will also check that you are singing the right voice for your vocal range.

All members are expected to attend the 75% of rehearsals if they wish to sing in the concert.  However, you are welcome to enjoy rehearsals, even if you are unable to attend enough rehearsals, or if you do not want to sing in the concert.  Just let Brian or the Society's Registrar know your plans.

This year's subscription is £49.00 but only £26 for students.  There is the option of paying £26.00 for each of the 2 terms.
